Classmate Profile Final

Whether it's cultivating new talent or performing in front of a dazzled crowd music will always be a part of William Houcheime's life.

Throughout his life, Houcheime was a man of action.

He was never the type to follow the crowd and would always carve his own path.

Instead of going to college Houcheime began to work for Google where he would teach himself graphic design

It was during this time that he would also begin to make music.

After working for Google for two years, he would use his newly expanded network to create his own startup called TradeKraft Collective.

TradeKraft is a company that cultivates talent from different mediums.

The people in TradeKraft Collective are musicians, dancers, vloggers and anyone with a creative interest.

Houcheime's passion was creating music and he does this under the name "WooShay" with his partner Charlie Buttar.

Under the WooShay name, the two have performed at local clubs like Ruby Skye and Pure Lounge to big festivals like Nocturnal Wonderland and Basscamp.

Houcheime declares that he has big plans for both WooShay and TradeKraft Collective.

"I draw a lot of inspiration from DJ Snake and DJ Khaled. I want to create a DJ Khaled-type brand and feature up-and-coming artists."

Houcheime credits all of his current success to the network that he's created during his life.

He's glad that he decided not to attend college until later because he has experience and has the initiative to go against the grain.

All of this while currently attending college.

Kendrick Lamar is making an appearance for SJSU's 2018 commencement on May 23. Commencement will be held in the Avaya Stadium at 5 P.M. and  Lamar is expected to speak at 6 P.M. He is the first rapper to win the Pulitzer Prize for music in history through his hit 2017 album "DAMN" and has earned 12 Grammy Awards throughout his career. In addition to his solo career, Lamar is also a member of Black Hippy, a musical group comprised of fellow LA based rappers Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and Schoolboy Q. SJSU is honored to have Lamar appear for the graduating class and impart his knowledge. "It's a great honor to be able to speak to the graduating class of 2018. SJSU is known for it's diverse community and su...

My Obituary

Tristan Borillo, one of the greatest American otaku, dies in his home in Tokyo at the age of 83. Leading an ambitious, but lonely life, Borillo succumbed to a rare form of lung disease. Borillo was awkward in his youth and often turned to the world of anime as an escape from the harsh realities of life. After graduating from San Jose State University, Borillo found himself living in Japan for several years. With minimal knowledge of Japanese, he traveled across Japan, working odd jobs and staying at capsule hotels with the objective of immersing himself in the Japanese language and culture. He returned to the states where he began doing freelance translating work for five years before finding a job with J-list, a Japanese goods importing company. Borillo was enraptured by the world of anime, but the walls of reality stood in between him and his goal. He promptly began to tear down those walls. Borillo left J-list to start his own company, JABOX, which would go on to cre...

Media Dream Job

Of all the media jobs, I would like to be a social media manager. A lot of users are spending their time on phones and social media is only becoming more prevalent in our lives. People tend to use social media as their first contact with a brand or a company, so creating a good online persona is invaluable Companies are still figuring out how to navigate the social media landscape and fewer take the creative liberties to carve out their own identity. Wendy's has a sassy Twitter persona that takes shots at its competitors while Arby's posts obscure anime references on their Instagram page. The salary for social media managers is between $50,000 and $60,000, but the increasing demand for managers can increase this. I wasn't looking for a high salary in the first place. I'm just looking for something that allows me to take creative liberties with a brand name and make something unique. To be successful in this position, one would have to be aware of how the...
